Naftogaz sees no obstacles to gas storage in UGS by European companies without customs clearance

Naftogaz Ukrainy does not see any obstacles to European companies' storing their gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS) without customs clearance.

"According to our estimates, three is such a legal possibility. The offer is very simple: gas is imported in the "transit" mode and stored," Naftogaz head Andriy Kobolev said.

He added if such gas is sold inside the country it is necessary to pass customs clearance, and if it is brought back abroad – no customs clearance is required.

He noted there were cases of gas storage without customs clearance in the history of Ukraine – RosUkrEnergo was involved in this, but at that time this did not cause claims on the part of fiscal authorities.

As reported, previously the head of the energy customs told reporters the use of Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities for gas storage by European companies is impossible without customs clearance. He said none of the Ukrainian storage facilities is a customs warehouse.
