Poroshenko: Ukrainians remain euro-optimists, despite circumstances
Ukrainians are Euro-optimists, despite the war in the country and other circumstances, including the growth of skepticism about the future of the European Union within Europe, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.
"The European Union has experienced a heavy attack on their fundamentals from populists, nationalists, Euro skeptics and Russia. Why did it happen on the part of Russia? Because it supports all European pessimists ... It is necessary to unite Europe in its readiness for a key role," he said after talks with President of the European Council Donald Tusk, President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels on Thursday.
The head of Ukrainian state said, "If you ask me what the most euro-optimistic country is, I will answer – Ukraine. In the current circumstances and in conditions of war we remain euro-optimists. I believe in the future of Europe."
