Poroshenko enacts amendments to 2016 budget allocating over UAH 5 bln in subsidies

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law amending the law on the 2016 national budget that sends over UAH 5 billion to pay subsidies to poor citizens, the president's press service reported last week

Poroshenko said that the funds are sent to poor citizens to provide them with help due to bringing the tariffs to the market level.

"The state must compensate all the increases [of tariffs] for poor citizens. An additional UAH 5 billion is provided for this to avoid delays," he said.

The president said that another position reflected in the law on the national budget is the increase of social standards this year by 10% instead of 6% planned earlier.

The head of state said this is not enough.

"I am sure that this social standards protection line with the economic growth will continue to be implemented," he said.

Poroshenko recalled that earlier he signed the law that would help to send over UAH 3 billion for rebuilding infrastructure in Donbas.
