Surplus of Ukraine's consolidated balance of payments $468 mln in April
The surplus of Ukraine's consolidated balance of payments was $468 million in April 2016, while a month earlier the deficit was $859 million, and in April 2015 some $168 million, according to a statement on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
In addition, the surplus of the current balance of payments in April was $327 million, while in March the deficit reached $448 million, and in April of the previous year the surplus was $22 million.
In January-April 2016 the current account deficit amounted to $639 million, or 2.6% of GDP, whereas in the corresponding period last year $407 million (1.6% of GDP).
The situation with the consolidated balance of payments looks better: its deficit for January-April was equal to $345 million against $2.109 billion in January-April 2015.
According to the NBU, in April 2016 the net inflow of funds on the financial account amounted to $138 million, and as a whole for January-April 2016 the net inflow of funds amounted to $260 million against an outflow of $2 billion for the same period last year.
The net inflow of funds on operations in the private sector amounted to $1.02 billion. At the same time, the net outflow of funds from the public sector amounted to $883 million, which is due to the recovery of funds on the central bank's swap operations.
