NBU: Total e-money turnover in Ukraine 2.3 times up in 2015

The total amount of transactions using "electronic purses" for payment on goods, labor and services in Ukraine in 2015 amounted to UAH 3.238 billion, which is 2.3 times more than in 2014, reads a posting on the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to the central bank, the total number of "e-wallets" reached 40 million (in 2014 the figure stood at 33.7 million), while more than one operation was carried out on 26.5 million (in 2014 some 5.83 million).

As of January 1, 2016 electronic money worth UAH 30.962 million was in circulation.

The largest issuers in 2015, in particular, were Fidobank (the Monexy electronic money system) with UAH 12.379 million, Alfa-Bank (Maxi) with UAH 9.315 million, Oschadbank (GlobalMoney) with UAH 8.5 million.

As reported, the National Bank of Ukraine plans to provide non-banking financial institutions with the right to issue electronic money.
