NBU anticipates GDP growth in Q1 2016 after two-year decline

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) expects Ukraine's GDP will grow in the first quarter of 2016, compared to the same period of 2014, the central bank said in a presentation on its website.

The NBU did not disclose the concrete figure. The central bank pointed out the increase in annual terms first since Q4 2013.

The NBU said that there are signs of gradual restoration of the economy after reaching the bottom at the end of last year and early this year.

"First data for 2016 on economic operations was weak – statistics for January were worse than projected. The results of February were optimistic," the central bank said.
