Naftogaz notes critical importance of another raise in gas tariffs for public from April
Naftogaz Ukrainy has noted a critical importance of another increase in gas tariffs for the population from April as it is stipulated in the memorandum with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
"Tariffs should be changed in March. If we do not do this, we'll miss the key point. This is important not only for Naftogaz but for the whole country," Naftogaz Head Andriy Kobolev said at the 12th annual investment conference of Dragon Capital in Kyiv.
He added that thanks to the previous tariff increase it became possible to reduce the budget deficit of Naftogaz, as well as the country as a whole.
"We need to bring the reforms to an end. If we stop half-way, the result will be offset," Kobolev said.
He also noted that the pace of reforms in 2016 compared to the previous two years declined significantly, but he expects that the government and the parliament have a sufficient political will to complete reforms in the energy sector.
