Ukraine is reaching agreement with IMF - Poroshenko after meeting with Lagarde
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko is confident about a positive outcome of the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the provision of the next tranche to Ukraine.
"We are now in the process of discussing the future memorandum with the IMF, we are reaching an agreement. From my viewpoint, an ambitious reform program will help Ukraine in 2016 and I am thankful to Christine Lagarde for that," Poroshenko said after negotiations with IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde in Davos on Thursday.
The president said IMF assistance is helping Ukraine stabilize its financial and banking system and restructure its sovereign debt.
"At the end of this year, we demonstrated an ambitious budget, which was adopted, a tax legislation reform, and other economic reforms, which was very effective," Poroshenko said.
