NBU postpones stress tests for second twenty banks due to changes in credit risk assessment
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has postponed stress tests for the second twenty banks due to the changes in the credit risk assessment rules after April 1, 2016.
The central bank said on its website that this was announced by director of the banking supervision department Kateryna Rozhkova at a traditional monthly meeting with heads of 40 largest banks held on Tuesday.
"We planned to conduct stress tests for the second twenty banks as of October 1. However, taking into account the fact that banks will assess credit risk using new rules from April 1, 2016, we've decided to postpone the term to assess the quality of credit portfolios using the new rules and maybe some changes in methods," she said.
First Deputy NBU Governor Oleksandr Pysaryk announced the change of the NBU's approaches to the assessment of banks' credit risks at the meeting.
He said that on November 2 the regulator sent the draft new rules to banks.
