Ukraine, Poland finish feasibility study on construction of gas pipeline interconnector
Ukraine and Poland have finished a feasibility study on the construction of a gas pipeline interconnector between the two countries, head of the public and media relations department at public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz Maksym Beliavsky told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.
"The sides plan to fully realize the project in 2020. The pipeline is a part of the North-South corridor," he said.
The company said that on October 9, representatives of Ukrtransgaz and Poland's Gaz-System finished the feasibility study. It will be used as a basis for making further decisions on developing the transborder gas transportation capacities between the two countries.
The Poland-Ukraine gas interconnector will include the construction of the trunk Hermanowice-Polish-Ukrainian Border gas pipeline of 1.5 kilometers in Poland and the Bilche-Volytsia-Polish-Ukrainian Border gas pipeline of 110 kilometers long in Ukraine, in addition to the Strachocina gas booster station and gas metering station, and the pipeline sections Hermanowice-Strachocina, Strachocina- Pogorska Wola, Pogorska Wola-Tworzen and Tworog-Tworzen.
As reported, on December 17, 2014, Ukrtransgaz and Gaz-System signed a cooperation agreement on the preparation of a feasibility study on the merger of the Polish and Ukrainian gas transport systems.
