Coal stocks at Ukraine's power plants grow by 11.5% – Ukrenergo
Coal stocks held in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) from September 28 to October 5, 2015 increased by 11.5% or by 207,400 tonnes, to 2.008 million tonnes, according to a national joint-stock company Ukrenergo report.
Anthracite stocks during the period totaled 962,900 tonnes (453,100 tonnes at Luhansk TTP) and gas and short-flame coal – 1.045 million tonnes (including 247,800 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).
Ukrenergo said that in the morning on October 4, 35 coal power units and three fuel oil power units at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 6.362 GW were operating. Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) had the capacity of 9.261 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 673 MW, combined heat and power plants – 841 MW and alternative energy units – 116 MW.
Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
