Oschadbank says false claims are lodged on its behalf in Crimea

Oschadbank (Kyiv) on August 25 sent a statement to the Prosecutor General's Office demanding an investigation into the alleged forgery of official documents and the submission of false claims, ostensibly on behalf of the financial institution in Crimea.

"Given the Russian Federation's destruction of Oschadbank investments in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, we believe that false claims that are now filed to Crimean courts on behalf of Oschadbank are clearly aimed at depriving us of the right to recover credit debts from various business entities in Crimea," bank board chairman Andriy Pyshny said in the statement.

According to the document, Oschadbank learned that in July 2015 several lawsuits were filed on its behalf to the so called Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea in order to recover debts from the bank's corporate debtors engaged in solar energy generation in Crimea.

"These lawsuits were filed on the basis of fraudulent claims. The name and identification of Oschadbank were improperly and artfully used without knowledge, consent or authority given by the Oschadbank management," the bank said.
