Ukrenergo to build new power line to feed in northern Luhansk region
NJSC Ukrenergo plant is to build a new 220 kV power transmission line to enhance the reliability of power supply to the north of Luhansk region, the company's press service has reported.
"A preliminary decision has been made about a possible construction of a new 220 kV overhead line bound for Yuvileina substation, which will be feed through a 500 kV transmission high-voltage power line from Russian-based Novovoronezhskaya nuclear power plant and Donbaska substation [this power line is also connected with Ukrainian-based Zaporizhia nuclear power plant via Pivdennodonbaska substation]. The tentative duration of the project is from nine to 12 months," the company said.
On August 13-14, Ukrenergo met with the heads of Luhansk regional military and the civil administration, which in addition to the construction of the new transmission lines also discussed the rebuilding of a 220 kV power line between Luhansk thermal power plant and Yuvileina substation, a 220 kV power line between Mykhailivka and Lysychanska, a 220 kV power line between Mykhailivka and Yuvileina substation, and a 330 kV power line between Vuhlehirska power station and Mykhailivka. All the power lines were destroyed as a result of the conflict in Donbas.
Luhansk region's northern areas are now supplied with electricity under the energy-island mode.
