Naftogaz to collect proposals as for gas purchase for EBRD funds
Naftogaz Ukrainy has announced the intention to use a loan in the amount of up to $300 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for natural gas purchases.
"The proposed project has a total estimated cost of up to $300 million, provides for the acquisition of natural gas for supplies to Ukraine through connecting pipelines with the European Union," reads the report.
Naftogaz expects that a prequalification selection for contracts will begin in the third quarter of 2015.
"Contracts, which will be financed by the bank credit funds, are governed by the policies and procurement rules of the bank, based on the standard procedures and natural gas procurement practices of the European Union, and will be open to firms from any country," it stated.
The contact person for interested suppliers, contractors and consultants will be chief advisor to the Naftogaz Ukrainy board chairman Serhiy Alekseyenko.
As reported, Naftogaz due to a lack of working capital for the purchase and subsequent injection of natural gas within preparations for the heating season is in talks with a number of international financial institutions to raise funds.
