Poland, Germany grant 360 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine
Polish and German diplomats have presented 360 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine for internally displaced persons, the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has reported.
"The humanitarian aid is extremely important and necessary for our countrymen. It makes them feel that not only Ukrainian government but also the whole global society cares about them and ready to help them," Emergency Service Head Mykola Chechotkin said at the presentation ceremony.
According to the statement, humanitarian aid was collected upon the request of the Ukrainian authorities due to the increase in the number of refugees from conflict regions in Ukraine. Of the 360 tonnes: 200 tonnes from Poland and 160- tonnes – from Germany. The cargo contains food stuff, hygiene products, sleeping bags, sheets, medicinal products, medicines, etc.
Caritas Ukraine international charitable fund, Zaporizhia City Congress of Handicapped Persons NGO, All Ukrainian Union "Ukrainian Frontiers" and Caritas Zaporizhia received the aid and will distribute it among refugees.
On June 16, Caritas Ukraine dispatched 285 tonnes of German and Polish humanitarian aid to Zaporizhia. The cargo contains foodstuff and hygiene product from Germany and Poland, for 6,800 refuges and 4,300 respectively.
