Coal stocks at Ukrainian thermal power plants rise 3% over week – Ukrenergo
Coal stocks at thermal power plants from May 5 to May 12 grew by 2.9%, or 23,970 tonnes, to 864,270 tonnes.
Anthracite-grade coal stocks fell from 216,690 tonnes to 171,300 tonnes, national energy company Ukrenergo has reported.
As of May 11, 28 coal-firing units and two units of power generating companies' thermal power plants with an aggregate capacity of almost 6,339 MW were in operation. Thirty-two coal-firing units and two units of thermal power plants with an aggregate capacity of 8,174 MW did not operate due to the lack of coal.
Ukraine's nuclear power plants as of May 11 accounted for 47% of total power generation (8,718 MW), the share of state companies' thermal power plants was 34% (6,339 MW), that of combined heat and power plants 4% (667 MW), hydro-electric power stations 14% (2,806 MW), while wind farms accounted for 1% (45 megawatts).
