Gas transit through Ukraine on April 7 hits record high this year at 194 mcm

The transit of Russian natural gas through Ukraine's gas transportation system (GTS) as of April 7 reached a record high in 2015, being 194.3 million cubic meters (mcm), including to European countries - 184.8 million cubic meters.

According to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the average daily gas transit through Ukraine in January this year amounted to 136.1 million cubic meters, including to Europe – 124.1 mcm, in February - 132 mcm, including to Europe - 120.7 mcm, in March - 156.4 mcm, including to Europe - 146.7 mcm.

On April 1-7, the average daily gas transit through Ukraine's GTS was 184.7 million cubic meters, in particular to Europe - 175.8 million cubic meters.

As reported, Gazprom on March 6 suddenly decided to remove restrictions on gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine, which have been in force for six months, increasing the request for transit by 1.5 times. Restrictions were introduced to counter reverse supplies from the EU to Ukraine.

Ukraine in January-March 2015 reduced gas transit to Europe and Moldova by 31.4% compared to the same period in 2014, to 12.765 billion cubic meters, in particular to Europe – 11.775 billion cubic meters, to Moldova - 989.4 million cubic meters.
