Imports to Crimea 21 times higher than exports in Jan – statistics

The State Statistics Service has began publishing data on the movement of goods between the Crimea free economic zone and the rest of Ukraine, and has said that imports were 21 times higher than exports in January.

According to the statistics, for the first month of the year goods worth $37.266 million were imported to the Crimea free economic zone, while goods worth $1.772 million were exported.

The service said that according to the law on the creation of the Crimea free economic zone and the peculiarities of economic activity in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, dated August 12 last year, goods moving across the administrative border of the Crimea free economic zone from January 1, 2015 are subject to customs procedures.
