Naftogaz pre-pays Gazprom $150 mln for January gas
Naftogaz Ukrainy has pre-paid Russia's Gazprom for approximately 1 billion cubic meters of gas in January 2015, the Naftogaz press office said.
The pre-payment includes an unused advance payment for December 2014 and a separate advance for January 2015.
Gazprom told Interfax that it had received $150 million in prepayment for January gas.
Naftogaz said the gas that will be purchased from the unused December advance is calculated at a new price.
Naftogaz will order and use volumes of gas depending on the needs of Ukrainian consumers.
Naftogaz on December 24 transferred $1.65 billion to Gazprom as payment for gas that was earlier delivered and not paid for. A first tranche of $1.45 billion was paid on November 4.
Thus, in accordance with the agreements reached in Brussels, Naftogaz paid $3.1 billion in two tranches for 11.5 billion cubic meters of gas supplied by Gazprom in November-December 2013 and April-June 2014, Naftogaz said.
As of December 24, Naftogaz had taken 300 million cubic meters of the 1 billion cubic meters of December gas that it has paid for in advance. The gas that has been paid for but not taken will be supplied to Naftogaz in January.
