Naftogaz to support Odesa Port-Side Plant with supplies of gas during breaks in gas deliveries from Hungary, says premier
Ukrainian chemical enterprises will receive gas only if they have current imports contracts in the period of a shortage of gas on the domestic market, and Naftogaz Ukrainy is ready to temporarily compensate breaks in gas supplies through fault of western partners, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"We need to pass the winter and it was decided to introduce the limits and restrictions for gas supplies… The government decided to permit importing gas to chemical plants: we will transport it and let enterprises work," the premier said opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"If you promised that you'll import – please, import," he added.
He said that in the morning the premier talked to the head of the Odesa Port-Side Plant which has problems with Hungarian colleagues under a contract on the purchase of natural gas, as Hungary temporarily suspended gas deliveries to Ukraine.
"Now the delegation of Odesa Port-Side Plant is in Hungary, and Naftogaz Ukrainy will support Odesa Port-Side Plant if we receive the compensation of gas we delivered to the plant and other chemical plants. We hope that our western partners will resume gas supplies for our enterprises, including for Odesa Port-Side Plant," Yatseniuk said.
He said that Naftogaz Ukrainy will permit any companies, including chemical enterprises, to sign imports contract to buy gas and ensure the transportation of gas.
