Naftogaz not ruling out rise in gas price for public to commercial one this year
Naftogaz Ukrainy is not ruling out the increase in gas prices for the population to a commercial level in the current year if the situation in the industry remains difficult, company deputy head Oleksandr Todiychuk has said at the forum "The fuel and energy complex of Ukraine."
"It is possible that this year a decision will be made on a further increase of gas prices. There is even such an option - I do not want to scare you, but do not want to hide it - that a single price for gas for industrial consumers and the population will be set," he said.
Todiychuk added that such a decision was unpopular and raises the concerns of politicians.
"This is a very hard blow, politicians try to avoid it, because we have elections this fall," he said.
At the same time, the Naftogaz deputy head referred to sociological studies, according to which the population in the conditions of war is ready to pay four times more for gas under the condition of the transparent use of funds for the development of the industry.
