Parliament ratifies agreement with Japan on loan of up to $100 mln

The Ukrainian parliament has ratified an agreement between the Ukrainian and Japanese governments on the credit agreement for the economic reforms.

The law on the ratification of the agreement between the Ukrainian and Japanese governments regarding the credit agreement on the development policy loan, the conducting of the economic reforms was supported by 292 out of 361 lawmakers registered in the session hall on Tuesday.

According to the agreement, Japan will issue a loan of up to JPY 10 billion ($97.7 million under the current exchange rate).

The loan is issued by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a financing of the systemic project of the World Bank Development Policy Loan I to finance the national budget and support reforms of the Ukrainian government.

According to the agreement, the funds will be sent to ensure the proper management of transparency and reporting in the state sector, deregulation and reduction of expenses on doing business and the improvement of protection of disadvantaged population.
