Gas transit to Europe via Ukraine as normal - Eustream
Transit of Russian gas to the European Union continues as normal, in keeping with gas transit nominations, Slovakia's gas transmission system operator, Eustream a.s., said.
In other words, the closure of the Nord Stream pipeline for maintenance has not made any difference to transit volumes yet.
As of 09:00 (CET) on June 24, with relation to transmission from East to the European Union, Eustream did not record pressure reduction or gas volumes decrease at the Velke Kapusany Compressor Station on the border with Ukraine, the operator said.
The daily nomination is 155 million cu m on June 24, up slightly from 145 mcm on June 23 and a daily 105-107.7 mcm in the period June 16-19.
Russia's Gazprom halted supplies to Ukraine at 0900 June 16 but continues to supply gas to Europe in transit via Ukraine. Since then Eustream has published updates each working day about the pressure in pipelines and volumes of gas entering Slovakia from Ukraine.
It was thought transit of Russian gas via Ukraine might go up following the decision to shut the Nord Stream pipeline across the Baltic Sea bed from Rusia to Germany for maintenance at 0800 Moscow time on June 24. Nord Stream will be fully shut for June 24-28 and will then operate with just one of its two lines until July 4.
