Naftogaz owes about $1.7 billion to Gazprom – Ukrainian energy minister
The Ukrainian national energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy owes over $1.7 billion to Russia's Gazprom for gas supplies, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said.
"This sum is about $1.75 billion," Prodan told journalists on Friday.
It was reported earlier that Gazprom valued Ukraine's debt at $1.89 billion in early March.
According to the Russian Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK), Kyiv's bill for Russian gas in March alone has reached nearly $500 million.
