Meeting of large Russian-Ukrainian interparliamentary commission remains on agenda, says Duma speaker
Russian State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin has confirmed that there are plans to hold a meeting of the big Russian-Ukrainian interparliamentary commission.
"We have postponed it until Vilnius [the Eastern Partnership summit, where Ukraine was expected to sign an association agreement with the EU] because before Vilnius we couldn't understand what will happen next, how much sovereignty the Ukrainian authorities would have left if the Vilnius agreements had been signed," Naryshkin said at the Open Tribune meeting on the situation in Ukraine held in the State Duma on Thursday.
"Now everything is clear," Naryshkin said, adding that the meeting of the interparliamentary Russian-Ukrainian commission is still planned.
The meeting is expected to address issues relating to parliamentary debate on issues important to Russia and Ukraine such as nuclear energy, aircraft-building, and space.
