Ukrzaliznytsia in Jan-Oct cuts cargo transportation by 4.7%
The railways of Ukraine in January-October 2013 reduced freight handling by 4.7% compared to the same period in 2012, to 365 million tonnes.
According to the press service of State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia, over the reporting period the railways transported 189.8 million tones on domestic routes, import transportation totaled 28.8 million tonnes, export traffic exceeded 118 million tonnes, and transit amounted to about 28 million tonnes.
The level of transportation of imported goods corresponds to the figure for the same period of 2012, exported cargo traffic increased by 0.7%, domestic freight traffic decreased by 5.8%, and transit was down by 19.7%.
As reported, Ukrainian railways in October 2013 increased transportation of goods by 0.4% compared to the same period in 2012, to 40.15 million tonnes.
Domestic traffic in October was 20.84 million tonnes, which corresponds to the figure of October 2012.
Transportation for exports over the past month increased by 7.5%, to 13.315 million tonnes, and for imports by 2.2%, to 3.112 million tonnes.
Transit cargo traffic in October fell by 17.7%, to 2.883 million tonnes.
