Yanukovych points at importance of building of new sinter plant at Yenakiyeve Steel Works

The construction of a modern sinter plant at Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works (Donetsk region) is a very important investment project, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

“Today, the investment project, for which the town has been waiting for a long period of time, especially those who live on the main streets of the town, starts,” the head of state said at a meeting with workers of Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works on June 14, 2013.

As reported, the cleaning of the industrial site at Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works for construction of a new sinte plant was started in June. The new MEROS solution of treating the offgas arising during the sintering process will be used during the construction of the plant. The MEROS solution stands for the maximized emission reduction of sintering. Thanks to the introduction of the solution, the expected reduction of emission will be at least 90%.

Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works is part of the Metinvest Group, the key shareholders of which are Donetsk-based private joint-stock company System Capital Management (SCM) with a 71.25% stake and Smart-holding Group with a 23.75% stake.

Metinvest plans to send over $1 billion to the reconstruction of Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works.
