Ukrenergo to auction 2.9 GW of electricity for export in July

National energy company Ukrenergo has announced an auction on June 11, 2013, for access to the Ukrainian power grid to export electricity from July 1 to July 31, 2013, according to an announcement posted on the company's Web site.

The announcement says that the access to 2,900 megawatts of electricity for export in four directions is split into 16 unequal lots.

One lot with a total capacity of 100 MW of electricity for export to Slovakia, Hungary and Romania (Burshtyn Island) are to be sold at the auction.

Four lots with a total capacity of 350 MW of electricity for export to Moldova are to be sold at the auction.

Four lots with a total capacity of 400 MW of electricity for export to Belarus are to be offered for sale.

Access to 2,050 megawatts of electricity for export to Russia is divided into seven lots.

Bids can be submitted no later than at 1600 on June 10, 2013. The auction will be held at 1600 on June 11, 2013.

Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate transmission lines, as well as supervising the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
